365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months...1 year!

wow. we can’t get over the fact that its already been one year. this summer seems to have flown by. we originally planned to go to the beach for a day the saturday before our anniversary. but as luck would have it, the weather forecast was 60 per cent chance of rain all weekend along the coast. so we quickly tried to decide of something fun to do that would get us out of our apartment.

joel LOVES the zoo and as you all know, i’m not the biggest fan of stink, but I decided to suck it up and let him have his fun. plus, I hadn’t been to the BR zoo since I was little and my nana would take me. we ended up having SO much fun, and it didn’t even smell that bad, so I had no complaints. i loved watching the animals interact, and we had a pretty funny show from a couple of monkeys where one was trying to sleep and the other wanted to play. so adorable! my only complaint was that the snowball stand was closed. closed! why?!?

after about 2 hours at the zoo, we headed to frost top on government on our way back home. i had never been there before and ALWAYS beg joel to take me there. i had a coke float and cheeseburger…ahh so good!

after lunch, we put on our swimsuits and went swimming for a few hours. only one other couple was out that day, so it was very relaxing and quiet. it was my few moments in the sun since i was still mourning the loss of our beach trip.

a few hours later, we got ready and headed over to Nestle Toll House. we’ve been seeing that they advertise that you can make your own ice cream sandwich (you pick the kinds of cookies and ice cream you want and they put it together), so we decided to see what that was all about. I LOVE ice cream and cookies, so it was kind of a win-win for me. and they definitely did not disappoint.

we then headed to the movies to see Hancock (joel has been itching to see this movie since it came out) i really liked it although I had heard from about everyone that they weren’t impressed. maybe i was missing something, but i thought the concept was hilarious and the back-story was so sweet.

needless to say, we stayed out of the apartment for most of the day, which was wonderful, and we did things that we wouldn’t have normally done in BR.

here are some pics from that saturday and the rest of the weekend. we pretty much celebrated all weekend! :)

joel saw the monkeys and literally starting sprinting to go see them...

me in front of the monkey cage...modeling my new dress that i got for free--thank you clothes swap!! :)

walking to the aquarium...

i felt so bad for this monkey :( he looked imprisoned...oh wait.

after we saw the 100 yr old turtles...

nestle toll house!! mmmm, mmmm good.

it was offically our anniversary!

so we decided to dig in...

yay one year old cake!

it was seriously soooooo good! joel was skeptical at first, but he got over that real quick.

i don't know why i thought it was so cool to have the ribbon?? maybe it was the sugar rush or late night hours...i don't know?

we did some damage...this is why neither of us could sleep and woke up about 3 times during the night. note to self: don't eat your weight in sugar then expect to go to bed.

he surprised me with flowers! i was so excited :)

this is us after our date to bonefish grill.

so all in all, the anniversary was great and something to look back on and think how much fun we could have just being together in our own city. i guess thats what really worth celebrating anyway.
